Tools for the Modern Advicer
2025 MISSION:
For most advisors, the value of financial planning is ascribed to the products they sell. However, when the result of financial planning isn’t advice but a product, it’s easy to see why investing in an advisor's value takes a backseat. Our bread and butter is recognizing the incredible value that financial advisors bring to the table.
“At its core, being a Financial Advicer means being someone who is first and foremost in the business of financial advice (not financial products)..." according to the Kitces.com “Financial Advicer Manifesto." The AdviceTech Competition’s goal is to turn a spotlight on the tech and solutions that support real Financial Advicers and make delivering real financial more efficient, profitable, or impactful for clients.
The Criteria
The technology must be for Financial "Advicers" (those in the business of providing financial advice for a fee) and support running a business where financial advice, and the Financial Advicers themselves, are the primary value. Finalists will be selected based on how well their technology offering fits the theme by supporting the businesses of financial advicers.
To enter, applicants must meet one or more of the following requirements:

→Be an existing company with a new offering, substantively different from its existing solutions, that is independently priced

→Have less than $1 million in revenue

Launched in the last 12 months

“Tools for the Modern Advicer” is the 2025 AdviceTech Competition theme. The goal? Reinforcing the incredible value that financial advisors bring to the table. We're interested in seeing new platforms and solutions that empower real Financial "Advicers" to run better businesses or give truly client-centric advice.

XYPN members in attendance are engaged early adopters of technology that allows them to give better advice to their clients and live their own great lives. Solve the problems of the modern Advicer, and your technology just might be the next AdviceTech Competition winner!

Finalists will be invited to take the stage to present their tech, selected by a committee of Michael Kitces, XYPN's Director of Partnerships Dave Bowman, CFP®, and XYPN members. These finalists will be chosen from the submissions based on the impact of the solution in helping real financial advicers run better practices and deliver more meaningful advice.

On Friday, September 26th, finalists compete to be voted "Best in Show" by a panel of hand-picked industry experts, investors, and influencers or the "Advicer's Choice" by XYPN LIVE attendees.
