Question Your Way to New Clients: The Questions that Build Trust & Credibility

October 9 | 10:15—11:15 AM MT

Practice Management

Presented by Nancy Bleeke

Client Acquisition
Nancy Bleeke

While advisors know they need to ask questions in a sales conversation, not all questions allow the prospect to understand their own compelling motivators to do something. Converting prospects is easier and more efficient when the prospect discovers, and you, the advisor, uncovers the "story" that goes beyond the data and details. Asking the right questions allows you to build credibility, trust, and the right to connect value to your service in a way that matters to them. With a framework to guide your questions, you’ll consistently provide real value early in the process that sets the stage for prospects to make a confident decision to work with you.

Nancy Bleeke

A passion for sales was never part of the plan for Nancy Bleeke. Who would ever want to be “in sales”? she thought. Yet, she found her calling helping people who also never saw themselves in sales, succeed in selling!

Her Genuine® branded training courses guide advisors to fill their funnel, convert prospects efficiently, and retain loyal clients with an authentic, collaborative approach.

Through her coaching, many financial advisors have increased their skills, processes, and confidence in selling, leading to increased conversion rates, sometimes by more than 50% in 16 short weeks. How? With proven best practices, systems, tools, and accountability.

And the best part? This success can be found while remaining genuine and client-focused.

In 2021, Mason & Associates changed their Strategic Planning Meeting process from scheduling reviews in the client's birth month to a Surge schedule. Rather than implement in stages, Mason implemented a surge calendar immediately with 100% of clients. Together, the four advisors transitioned over 400 family relationships to the new process in 2021 and continued in 2022. John, Tommy, and Ben will provide a real world perspective on Surge implementation and provide guidance, templates, and strategies they've used to implement the schedule with clients and how they've improved from 2021 to 2022. This session will focus on implementation, the challenges, and the benefits of the surge strategy from the planner, team member, and client perspective.

In this session, attendees will get an overview of some of the most common financial planning concerns regarding crypto and how to effectively help clients navigate them.

Ginger’s professional life has delved into the artistic and business worlds, working as a glassblower and property manager. The fast growth in ESG data has created an exciting opportunity for advisors and their clients who are interested in sustainability. At the same time, this growth has introduced significant complexity that investors may find hard to navigate. The subjectivity and opacity of ESG ratings may limit their usefulness to investors and lead to unexpected outcomes. A better approach is for investors to determine their specific ESG priorities, identify relevant data, and integrate these data into a sound investment approach. Investors are best served by establishing their sustainability priorities themselves while being mindful of the tradeoffs involved. As a result, Advisors may be able to accommodate their clients' interests in climate change in a meaningful way within their portfolio, while keeping them on track to meet their financial goals.

Lacey Huebel is Dimensional's Head of Responsible Investment, North America, as well as a Portfolio Manager and Vice President. There are different types of insurance that fee-only financial advisors and their clients can benefit from. But with a long list, how do you narrow down what is needed? This presentation will dive into the fundamental types of protection that are needed at certain stages of their lives and future stages in life insurance and disability insurance along with the current changes in long-term care insurance (LTCi).

Learning Objectives:

  1. For many of your young clients, layering insurance policies is also about differentiation: providing coverage at the different points in their lives when it’s needed. With premiums that layer too.
  2. Unique riders that enhance an individual disability insurance policy and grow with your client’s career.
  3. Updated information in the LTCi industry and state-mandated long-term care plans.

It can also be the key to creating space for some of the most important conversations around time, energy, and money.

Whether you have prospective or current clients inquiring about these assets, or perhaps they're coming to your firm already owning the assets, advisors have a fiduciary responsibility to help clients understand the numerous financial planning implications of this emerging asset class, even if you’re not assisting with managing the assets directly. In this session, attendees will get an overview of some of the most common financial planning concerns regarding crypto and how to effectively help clients navigate them.
